Profile: Peter Marin

Peter Marín was born in México D.F. and has been part of North Carolina’s creative landscape for the past 10 years. “I moved here for art and love,” he says. “Art continues, but not love.” Still, the move proved meaningful—North Carolina became a place where he could keep creating and connecting.

“What do I love about this state? Everything,” Peter shares. “The great art community.” That sense of belonging through art has anchored him here, as he continues to make, teach, curate, and mentor.

With 34 years of experience, Peter defines his work simply: “Artist, educator, curator, mentor.” And how does he give back? “I support, contribute and enrich my community by supporting artists.”

His Mexican heritage is a deep source of inspiration. “What I value most is the history and legacy—particularly in art, architecture, archaeology, and gastronomy,” he says. That cultural richness is woven into his life and his work.

Asked how Latine and Hispanic culture contributes to the community, Peter answers in his signature style: “Tacos. Work ethic. Sharing our traditions. Art.”

And beyond his many roles in the art world, there’s one title that means the most to him: “I am a proud father to a wonderful girl.”
